Pricings

Book your canoe, kayak or paddle boards via this portal. Please note you will need to book your entry to the event separately from the boat hire.

  • Canoe (min 2 person) – £40 per boat
  • Kayak – £25
  • Stand-up paddleboard – £25

With your hire, we will provide a buoyancy aid, a paddle and a leash (for paddleboards). We will require you to watch a video safety brief prior to the event, meaning that on the day you can rock up, get kitted out quickly and be on the water in an efficient manner.

Canoes are Venture Ranger 16. These are min 2 people per boat, max 3

Kayaks are Venture Flex 11 kayaks

The paddle boards are the Tahe hard boards and come in three different sizes (9'2, 10'6 and 11'6). The 11'6 can take up to 110 kg, and the 10'6 boards up to 90 kg.

Age restrictions

There must be at least one adult (18+) in each canoe.

  • 2 people in a canoe: [Adult, Adult] OR [Adult, 6+]
  • 3 people in a canoe: [Adult, Adult, Adult] OR [Adult, 10+, 10+] OR [Adult, 6+, Adult]

Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards: minimum age 15, under-18s must be accompanied by an adult on the water.

Canadian canoe hire Shrewsbury town centre

This is the 13th Montgomery Canal Triathlon that has been held, and it’s one of the biggest events to be held on or by a canal.

The triathlon is organised by Friends of the Montgomery Canal and is supported by the Canal & River Trust in aid of the restoration of the Montgomery Canal. The canal is one of the most popular cross-border events, starting in Newtown in Wales and ending in Shropshire.

This annual event has had several formats since it started in 2012.  Recently, it has been a special ‘marathon’ length, owing to restoration works on the canal, and will be around 27-28 miles in 2025.

The Route

The Montgomery Canal Triathlon starts in Newtown with a 12-mile cycle to Whitehouse, followed by a 5-mile canoe section to Pool Quay, and finishing with a 10-mile walk to Crickheath.
