We have graded all of the routes and trips we offer across our various locations on a scale of 1 to 5 (from easy to moderately difficult).
This experience is suitable for beginners and is rated 1/5 because the section of river you will be paddling on is wide and slow moving.
Prior experience is not required. You will be given a safety brief and an introduction on how to manoeuvre and propel your stand-up paddle board.
If you can swim and follow instructions then you will be fine!
Unwind after a hard day’s work, enjoy nature whilst paddling upstream or just have fun with friends! Every Wednesday from the 14th of June until the 6th of September you can hire a paddle board at The Quarry in Shrewsbury and have a nice evening with like minded paddlers. We start at 630pm but advice you to come 10-15 minutes before, so we have plenty of time to get you on the water.
Suitable for all experience levels (minimum age 10). You must be able to swim.
We have 3 different sizes of paddle board available to hire to suit various sizes of paddler:
9’2″ – recommended for children (aged 10+) or small adults up to 45 kg
10’6″ – recommended for small/medium adults up to 75 kg
11’6″ – recommended for larger adults up to 110 kg
See the town from the water or head upstream into the countryside — take your pick!
Wetsuits are optional and most people find they are not necessary once the water is warm from mid to late summer. If you want to wear one, we recommend bringing your own wetsuit if you have one or you can use one of ours, we have a selection of sizes available and, yes, they are cleaned between uses! Please wear swimwear or underwear under our wetsuits. We can provide wetsuits at no extra charge. If you have one yourself we recommend you to bring it.
Alternatively, you can simply wear something you are comfortable in like leggings/shorts and a T-shirt. You will be issued a buoyancy aid to wear on top. In this case, don’t forget to bring a towel, a bag to put any wet gear in and a full change of clothes! Please bring footwear to wear on the board and in the water (plus a spare pair for afterwards!). This is to protect your feet in the event you fall off the board.
All bookings are subject to safe wind and water conditions and as such it may be necessary to reschedule your booking if the forecast is unfavourable.
